Celebrating the Sport Partnership Project

NAVCA and Sport England have just published the evaluation of the Sport Partnership Project, Celebrating the Sport Partnership Project 2007-10 (pdf, 7.6 MB).

The three year project was funded by Sport England and came to an end in March 2010. The evaluation celebrates the successes of the project, showcases best practice and highlights the importance of local support and development organisations supporting community sports clubs at a local level.

Bringing sporting consumers into focus

A new online tool from Sport England will help sports organisations and clubs to know more about their potential customers so they can offer the right sport in the right place, targeted in the right way.

DCMS Business Plan

The Department for Culture Media and Sport has published its business plan, outlining the way it will transform culture, media, tourism and sport.

Culture and sport: integrated national support offer

Local Government Improvement and Development (formerly the IDeA) - on behalf of Arts Council England, English Heritage, Museums, Libraries and Archives Council (MLA), Sport England, CABE Space, and the Department for Culture, Media and Sport (DCMS) - has produced an integrated national support offer to help councils and their partners improve culture and sport services.

Sustainable Investment in Communities Fund re-opening

Sport England has announced that its Sustainable Investment in Communities Fund will re-open for applications on the 26th October until the 21st December 2010. The fund will be available to organisations such as sports clubs, voluntary or community organisations, local authorities, and education establishments, such as schools, colleges and universities to invest in innovative projects capable of transforming the places where we play or take part in sport.

Understanding commissioning

IDeA has published a new guide Understanding commissioning: a practical guide for the culture and sport sector designed to help people in the culture and sport sector understand the process of strategic commissioning in public services and how to engage in it to produce better outcomes for communities.

Sports clubs urged to register on CASC scheme

Amateur sports clubs across the UK are being urged to join the Community Amateur Sports Club (CASC) scheme, which allows them to benefit from tax savings.

Over 5,500 clubs have already signed up, but the Government is concerned that thousands more are missing out on mandatory business rate relief and the potential to claim Gift Aid on donations.

Sported: Supporting the voluntary and community sports sector

Sported is a one stop shop, providing funding and organisational development support to groups that use sport to improve the lives of young people in disadvantaged communities.

They are currently running in three areas of the UK (London, the West Midlands and Cornwall), but aim to have a national presence by 2012.

Community sport pioneers win London's BBC Power of Sport Award

The North Lambeth and North Southwark’s Sport Action Zone (SAZ) has been awarded the 2009 BBC Power of Sport Award, supported by Sport England.

SAZ have brought new sporting opportunities to over 7,500 disadvantaged people in London.
